“Off.” He growled and gripped one side, yanking the shirt apart, buttons bouncing off the hardwood floors as he pulled the shirt roughly down my arms and tossed it.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” His body was hot, alive, and hard at my back. I couldn’t stay here. Not with him. Not in this bed like we were lovers, like we were two people who could seek solace from each other. We weren’t. We never could be those people. “Stop!”
He caged me, my struggles nothing to him even in his weakened state. “You aren’t leaving this bed. Get used to it. Don’t fucking try anything.”
I stopped fighting. There was no point. I would just have to wait until he fell asleep.
“You’re mine, Stella.” He tightened his grip with each word. “I don’t care where you run, who you choose, what you say, or what you fucking do. You, all of you, belongs to me.”
“I’m not a thing you can own,” I hissed.
He laughed, the sound low and full of heat. “You can hop countries like a skipping stone for all I care. I’ll find you, and you’ll wind up right where you are now.”

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
A slow, torturous release of secrets and devastation. I enjoyed this ride, please don't make me get off.
This is the second book in The Acquisition Series, go read Counsellor if you haven't yet. There's dark themes, unsavory characters, and a plot that will have you biting your nails. I'm completely addicted now, I need to know what happens, like I need my next breath. A secret society of prominent families, only one can rule, there's too much to lose, even if it costs your soul. I know, I know, I can't tell you much more. You have to dig in, because it's going to blow your mind.
Let me tell you, Stella is not your average cry baby, oh, poor me heroine, nope. She's a fighter, a breath of fresh air. She's fighting with all she's got, but Sin has reached in and grabbed her heart while at the same time he breaks it. I said this with the first book, I love the push and pull between them. Love me. Hate me. Break me. I almost forgot to mention the side characters. Sin has two brothers that are to die for. That's all I'm saying, but I wanted Stella to almost become as deviant as them, I just wanted some revenge.
“You will never break me. Never.” The venom in my voice surprised me. I realized then how much I meant it. How much I intended to fight. There would be no more sinking to the bottom of the pool. No more toying with death over drinks and dancing. I intended to walk across the room, wrap my arms around death’s neck and pull him down to me. Kiss him like there was no tomorrow and dare him to do a thing about it."
Let's talk about the plot. OMG!!!! This is the stuff I live for. There's a scene that kinda reminded me of a twisted Hunger Games. I love that shit. The darker the better for me. I was laughing uncontrollably, I could not turn the pages fast enough. The story is a slow release, you won't get all the answers right away, I was okay with that. Every little bit of information I got had me sweating just a tad. It's a slow burn till the end. AND THEN BAMN!!!!! WHAT DO I DO NOW?? This author has put me in a choke hold, I can't breathe until I get the next book.
Gather around all my dark friends, you have to read this. I'm telling you, you will love it.
